Weekly Construction Update 1/27/2023
TRAFFIC IMPACT AND DURATION:
Early next week, there is the potential for intermittent shoulder or lane closures between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to facilitate the installation of construction signage and mobilization of construction equipment. Starting midweek, there will be closures of the outermost lanes on U.S. 2/7 in both directions between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to allow crews to begin removing material behind the bridge piers.
CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:
Early next week, crews will continue installing advance warning construction signage throughout the area and mobilizing construction equipment. Starting midweek, crews will begin removing material including ledge from behind the bridge piers on both sides of interstate bridges over US 2/7 to facilitate the installation of retaining walls. This will include hammering to break up the ledge for removal. This work will be completed under lane closures.
LOCATION: U.S. Routes 2/7 (U.S. 2/7) in Colchester from the Winooski town line and continuing north for 1.05 miles to Sunderland Woods Road.
PROJECTED COMPLETION: Contract 1 Spring 2024, Contract 2 Summer 2026
